Chapter 81

信言不美，美言不信。
善者不辯，辯者不善。
知者不博，博者不知。
聖人不積，既以為人己愈有，既以與人己愈多。
天之道，利而不害；
聖人之道，為而不爭。

Words to be trusted are not beautiful; beautiful words are not to be trusted.
The good are not eloquent; the eloquent are not good.
The knowing are not learned; the learned do not know.
The sage does not hoard. Having done all for others, he has more; having given all to others, he owns more.
The Way of heaven benefits and does not harm;
the Way of the sage acts and does not contend.
